We pay tribute to one of the Jazz Cafe's most beloved genres, soul, with our weekly Saturday club night Soul City.
Connecting the dots between soul, funk, disco, house and Motown classics from across the ages, join our favourite selectors as they dig deep into their record crates and take us on a trip through some of their most-loved party grooves.
Whether you're dancing on our 450 capacity dance floor or drinking cocktails on our mezzanine balcony, Saturday nights at the Jazz Cafe are always a special occasion.
Rich Medina is far more than your standard 'taste making DJ'.
Bolstered by a colossal ’25-30,000 records’, his progressive DJ sets fuse hip-hop, house, afrobeat, soul and funk with a deep knowledge of each genre's musics roots.
But what sets Medina apart from his peers is his numerous studio productions; remixing and producing for the likes of Madlib, Jill Scott and Platinum Pied Pipers, releasing records on labels such as Blue Note and Sonar Kolletiv, and most intriguingly his poetry performance on tracks with TY, Black Star and most notably on King Britt: Adventure in Lo-Fi.
