Japan and more specifically Tokyo’s beat scene has been bubbling very nicely over the past few years.
The sound that has come to define the city’s scene has revolved around melancholic, jazzy electronica with sweet and delicate melodies, embodied by artists like Tru Thouts’ Anchorsong.
Having supported the likes of Bonobo, Prefuse 73, DJ Krush, Daedelus, Gonjasufi and Jaga Jazzist, he’s now established himself as a leading artist on his own terms.
For a very special one off three way performance at Jazz Cafe he’ll be joined by fellow producers Daisuke Tanabe and Ametsub in an extended back to back to back session sonically travelling through the tight bass and melodic scratches of Ametsub, the stop start d’n’b experimentalism of Daisuke and the bright, African inspired techno of Anchorsong.
Setting the mood behind the decks on the night will be Kidkanevil, who will be playing a special Japanese-themed warm up set.
