We welcome UK jazz-funk pioneers Atmosfear as co-founder and bassist Lester Batchelor leads the return of their experimental intergalactic British Jazz Funk with the brand-new DIOS:2020, an extensive rework of ‘Dancing in Outer Space’.
They’re one of the great bands to have emerged from the ‘Brit-Funk’ scene along with Light of the World, Incognito, Freeez, Lynx, Hi-Tension, Level 42, Central Line, and more. Their timeless 1979 debut single ‘Dancing in Outer Space’ is a certified jazz-funk classic and sits at the pinnacle of the 80s UK underground, becoming a massive global influence with support in the mythic venues of New York and remixes from super producers like Masters at Work and Francois K.
DJ Pete Tong credits the band as an important influence on the UK dance scene and awarded Atmosfear with club track of the year for their Latin jazz funk classic ‘Xtract’. “Motivation” was another massive dance floor hit and was covered by Kenny Dope in 1995 under the title “I Wanna Know”.
