Krautrock legend Damo Suzuki is probably best known for his work as the lead singer for German group Can.
Since going their separate ways, Suzuki has gone on to perform solo and with fellow musicians whom he refers to as ‘sound carriers’. The shows are a demonstration of improvisation in its purest form, with Suzuki choosing to not rehearse at all beforehand and instead feed off the other sound carriers’ energy on stage.
Suzuki brings his unique force back to the Jazz Cafe this summer alongside The Invisible’s Dave Okumu and Tom Herbert, Sons Of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner and avant garde sax player Robert Stillman.
Opening the show will be post- punk trio Big Joanie, whose 2018 album Sistahs was described as an “accomplished debut” by Pitchfork.
