It’s an Italian disco special at Jazz Cafe as we celebrate the colourful history of the Italo sound with legendary duo of Alexander Robotnick and Daniele Baldelli.
Robotnick needs no introduction: his debut album ‘Ce N’est Q’un Début’ gave us the cult classic record ‘Problèmes D’amour’. Since his explosion in the 80s, Alexander went on to produce movie soundtracks, curated his label ‘Hot Elephant Music’ and recently graced the stage of Berlin’s legendary Panorama Bar.
Baldelli on the other hand earned his stripes through residencies at ‘Italy’s Studio 54’, Baia Degli Angeli. He then later resided at the iconic nightspot Cosmic, where he wrote himself into the Italian dance music history books with what is know known as the Cosmic sound: a mix of Italo disco, afrobeat and sleazy funk – slowed down to sonic perfection.
Budino is one of the minds behind long-running Oscillator party series and record label that has released a few EPs of edits of obscure Italian disco by Italo pioneer Beppe Loda, further galvanizing the connection with her Brescian roots and her new connections in her adopted city of Berlin.
Perfect for groups of 15 to 150, our mezzanine level is all about exclusivity and intimacy. To reserve an area for drinks, click ‘party bookings’ and submit an enquiry.
