***We’ve received the terrible news that Ebo Taylor’s UK visas have been denied, meaning that Sunday’s show will sadly have to be cancelled. Please contact your point or purchase for full refunds – we’re working hard to bring Ebo back later this year, so hopefully we’ll have some better news to bring you very shortly***
A legend of afrobeat, jazz, highlife and most African music in general, it’s an honour to be able to welcome Ebo Taylor to our stage as part of our showcase series in partnership with Mr Bongo.
The ‘James Brown of Ghana”s influence cannot be underestimated, and his work has had a new lease of life recently through Strut Records, who released his first internationally distributed album Love and Death in 2010 to roaring success, which prompted the label to issue the retrospective Life Stories: Highlife & Afrobeat Classics 1973-1980, in the spring of 2011. A year later, in 2012, a third Strut album, Appia Kwa Bridge, was released, further cementing the Ghanaian’s status as one of Africa’s most important and influential artists.
