We’re honoured to present one of the most celebrated names in funk, legendary lead singer of the band ‘Slave’: Steve Arrington.
Having scored major hits featuring his innovative lead vocals, first on 80s funk classics like “Watching You”, “Just A Touch of Love”, and “Snaphot” with the iconic band. Arrington broke out with solo hits like “Weak at the Knees”, “Way Out”, “Nobody Can Be You”, “Dancin’ In The Key Of Life” and the top ten single “Feel So Real”.
His songs have been sampled by the likes of Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, LL Cool J, Mariah Carey and N.W.A.
Steve was away from the music game for a while but now he’s back and pushing the envelope like never before, as demonstrated by his recent collaborations with Dâm Funk, Snoop Dogg, and Kool Moe Dee, as well as some incredible live shows.
Steve recently signed with Stones Throw Records and is currently working on collaborations with Anderson Paak producer, Knowledge plus Kiefer, Jerry Paper (Tyler The Creator) and Gifted & Blessed.
For these special Jazz Café shows, Steve Arrington will be backed by “Echoes Of”. These young French cats have been doing a very successful monthly residency at Paris’ famous “New Morning” jazz club, called “Funk & The City”, covering the greatest Funk from 1975 to 1985, which has led to landing them a hot bi-monthly residency at London’s “CLF Art Café – Bussey Building” in Peckham, for South London’s “Soul Train Party”. The band’s reputation has constantly been growing and these last 2 years several Soul/Funk legends like Howard Johnson and Junior – and now Steve Arrington – have asked them to be their backing band for their European dates.
