Somewhere Soul Presents
Cotonete

Friday 17th May

7-piece French jazz-funk group, Cotonete, bring their funky 70’s repertoire to London. Somewhere Soul presents the show as part of the latest Music to Expand Your Horizons.

The Paris-based band gained recognition for renditions of tracks from their contemporaries such as The JB’s, Deodato, Banda Black Rio and Herbie Hancock. Replicating the heavy grooves and sweaty jazz-funk with a nod to the Brazilian warmth.

More recently, the band released multiple EPs of original material – including a collaboration with master disco DJ/producer, Dimitri From Paris, breaking into worldwide charts and hailing the band as THE French jazz funk reference.

Opening the night are Australian-based Close Counters. Their diverse soundscape sits at the crossroads of house, neo-soul, broken beat and disco, having collaborated with Young Franco, Jay Prince and Scrufizzer with plays across BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, 6 Music and more.
