Prolific Brazilian Songwriter
Joyce

Sunday 29th October

“A free-spirited Brazilian artist (…) In the music of Joyce, melodic grace, rhythmic propulsion and buoyant humour are inseparable.” – New York Times, USA

A legend of Brazilian music, Joyce Moreno has written songs recorded by a host of other greats – Elis Regina, Maria Bethânia, Gal Costa, Milton Nascimento, Edu Lobo and Elizeth Cardoso, racking up over 400 written pieces.

Alongside her prolific compositions, her own performance style is itself pioneering, introducing a first-person feminine voice in MPB, accompanied by artful guitar mastery.

In the 90s, her music gathered new life in leftfield European clubs, where the likes of Gilles Peterson and Joe Davis helped instigate a new coming of Brazilian music, resulting in her albums from the 70s and 80s being reissued and her acclaim spreading further afield.

Join us this October to experience this ground-breaking singer-songwriter who helped revolutionise Brazilian pop.
