Zo! & Tall Black Guy (featuring Deborah Bond)

Sunday 25th February

While Lorenzo “Zo!” Ferguson could be classified as a beat-maker based on his early hip-hop releases and productions for others in the first few years of the 2000s, he has always been a musician first.

Foremost a keyboardist, yet who also plays bass, drums and guitar and writes, arranges and produces his own material.  He has subsequently thrived with a sound that puts a contemporised twist on soul and jazz fusions of the late 70s and early 80s.  From 2010 through to 2019.  Beginning with Manmade and closing out the decade with FourFront, Ferguson issues solo albums every three years with the support of primary collaborators The Foreign Exchange and ventured into writing and producing music for film and television including the series Black Dynamite and Sherman’s Showcase.  He has since entered the 2020s with the Tall Black Guy collaboration Abstractions.

Tall Black Guy

Hip Hop Producer Tall Black Guy specialises in a predominantly mellow and sample based sound. Rich with atmosphere and musicality.  Counting Dj Premiere and Pete Rock as inspirations and with Quest Love and BBC DJ Giles Peterson amongst his admirers , the  native midwesterner  has been operating since around the second half of the 2000s, with an array of original productions, remixes, edits and collaborations, throughout which he has been equally adept at working with rappers singers and sampled voices.  His full length recordings range from 8 Miles to Moenart (2013), to Airplane Mode 2021 and include the Zo! Collaboration Abstractions (2021).

Deborah Bond

Launching from her longtime home-base of Washington, D.C. and taking flight to the rest of the world, Debórah Bond has become an integral part of the fabric of the worldwide indie-soul scene. She formed a life-changing partnership with the production team Third Logic, comprised of bandmates and songwriting partners Robbie McDonald, Aaron “Funky Chuck” Evans and Kinard Cherry. This partnership yielded two studio albums: DayAfter (2003) and the critically acclaimed follow-up Madam Palindrome (2011). Debórah has regularly toured with the UK’s own Incognito and dropped her last album compass:1 in 2021
