Brian Shimkovitz was on a scholarship in Ghana when he got hooked on the cassette culture of the region. Since starting his eponymous label Awesome Tapes From Africa, he has gone on to bring such acts as Ata Kak, Hailu Mergia and Penny Penny to global prominence. His talent for discovering African rarities means that every set he performs is completely unique.
Joining him at the Jazz Cafe will be London based crew Mogadisco, who have earned a reputation for bringing the finest selections of afrobeat, jùjú, highlife, soukous and much more.
Support will be provided by our resident Dom Servini. Whether by himself or as one half of the Wah Wah 45s, Dom has been filling dance floors since the early 1990s with his beautifully blended, mix of music steeped in soul, jazz and funk.
